General Election
A General Election is the election in which federal and state officers, members of Congress and of the general assembly, county and township officers, and other officers appear on the ballot. General Elections are held the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November of each even-numbered year.
Chickasaw County General Election – November 3, 2026
The Chickasaw County Auditor's Office will conduct the 2026 General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
The General Election ballot will include federal, state, county, township, Soil & Water Conservation District, Agricultural Extension Council, and judicial retention offices, as well as any public measures that apply to your precinct.

The Chickasaw County Auditor's Office will conduct the 2026 General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Important Election Dates
- August 25, 2026 – First day to submit an Absentee Ballot Request Form.
- October 14, 2026 – First day to vote absentee in person at the Chickasaw County Auditor's Office and first day absentee ballots may be mailed to voters who have submitted a valid request.
- October 19, 2026 (5:00 p.m.) – Deadline for the Auditor's Office to receive a request for a mailed absentee ballot.
- October 31, 2026 (5:00 p.m.) – Deadline to pre-register to vote by mail or online. Voters may still register and vote on Election Day by providing proof of identity and residency.
- November 2, 2026 – Last day for in-person absentee voting at the Chickasaw County Auditor's Office during regular business hours.
- November 3, 2026 – General Election Day. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the Chickasaw County Auditor's Office no later than 8:00 p.m. to be counted.
Voter Information
All registered voters are encouraged to verify their voter registration, polling place, and current address before Election Day.
Voters who are not registered or who need to update their registration may do so at their polling place on Election Day by providing acceptable proof of identity and residency as required by Iowa law.
